MiniWorld - October 2020

English | 100 pages | PDF

I'm writing this in a month when three major Mini events were postponed to next year, Mini Action Day, L2B and Stanford Hall, so I was starting to feel a bit fed up as I'm missing my Mini friends and the wondrous sight of many Minis gathered together. My keep calm and carry on attitude at the start of the summer was beginning to fade so I had a stern word with myself as I know that the Mini scene will carry on and it will adapt if necessary. Where there's a will, there is a way! A perfect example of this can be found in the feature on the Cooper S on pages 30-37. It's an impressive story of a young man called Stanley Eakins who wanted to go rallying in a Mini and wouldn't let cerebral palsy stop him. It's amazing how far a can-do attitude will get you. We all have plenty to look forward to next year with the 60th anniversary of the Mini Cooper and MiniWorld's 30th birthday. I wonder how many of you have been reading since the first issue. I'd love to hear from you with your memories of MiniWorld and what the magazine means to you. If you are planning a Mini event in 2021 let me know so we can start filling up the event diary for 2021 on page 14. This issue is packed with stories about fantastic Minis that I'm sure you will enjoy reading. I love the Australian Mini Van that's working hard to provide liquid refreshments to thirsty show-goers and Chris Calcroft's 1275 GT is absolutely stunning. Be sure to also check out Mark and Sebastien's epic road trip driving a Mini 1000 across the desert. See pages 74-80.
I hope you enjoy the issue.
